Activating Your License Key
- Purchase WhisperType from store.hanncrest.com.
- Your receipt email arrives immediately with your unique license key.
- Open WhisperType, open the Settings / Control Panel, and navigate to the License tab.
- Paste your key and click Activate. Your status updates to "WhisperType Licensed" permanently.

Need to swap machines? Simply click "Deactivate on this Mac…" under Settings ▸ License, and that activation slot frees up immediately.
Can I move my license to a new Mac?
Yes. Simply click "Deactivate on this Mac" in Settings ▸ License on your older Mac. If you no longer have access to the machine, you can deactivate any instance from the Lemon Squeezy customer portal linked in your order receipt.
Do I need an internet connection to dictate?
No. You only need internet connection once to download your chosen Whisper model file. Once downloaded, all speech transcription runs 100% locally on your Mac's Apple Silicon Neural Engine.
What happens when the 14-day trial ends?
You move to the free plan: 10 minutes of dictation a day, forever, with every feature still available. Nothing is deleted, nothing is disabled, and no account is created. Entering a license key removes the daily limit.
How do I see how many free minutes I have left?
The badge at the top-left of the Control Panel shows it (“FREE 10m”), the menu bar popover repeats it, and the License section has a progress bar for the day. Hovering the badge explains what is being counted.
Does the daily limit count time with the app open?
No. It counts only the audio that was actually transcribed, measured after leading and trailing silence is trimmed. Time spent with WhisperType idle, the pause before it auto-stops, and any dictation you cancel all cost nothing.
What happens if I hit the limit mid-sentence?
The recording stops at the limit and what you had already said is still transcribed and inserted — you never lose the words. The next allowance arrives at local midnight.
What happens if I request a refund?
All direct purchases include a 30-day money-back guarantee (1 month).
