Buying & Licensing

Buying, activating, and moving your Vitals Pro license

Everything about the direct (non-App-Store) purchase: where your license key comes from, where to enter it, moving your license to another Mac, and why the 3-device limit is actually a good deal.

Two ways to own Vitals Pro

Vitals Pro is the same $14.99 one-time purchase either way — the builds differ in licensing and a few system readings allowed by Apple’s sandbox. Compare the builds before choosing. The Mac App Store version unlocks automatically through your Apple ID (use "Restore" in Preferences if it doesn't — see our Support guide). The direct-download version — bought straight from us via Lemon Squeezy — unlocks with a license key instead. This page covers that second path.

Buying directly

  1. From the Vitals page, choose the direct-download option near Pricing or head to store.hanncrest.com.
  2. Check out through Lemon Squeezy — card, and PayPal or Apple Pay where available. It's a single $14.99 charge, no subscription, no recurring billing.
  3. You'll land back on a confirmation page, and an email is on its way to the address you paid with.

Finding your license key

Lemon Squeezy emails your receipt within a minute or two of paying. It contains your download link and your unique license key — a string you'll paste into Vitals once.

Don't see it? Check spam or promotions first. The same receipt links to a customer portal where your order and key are always available afterward, so nothing is lost even if the email itself goes missing.

Activating it in Vitals

  1. Click the Vitals icon in the menu bar, then the gear icon for Preferences.
  2. At the top, under the Pro section, paste your key into the License key field.
  3. Click Activate. Within a couple of seconds the banner changes to "You're all set, thank you! Every Pro feature is on."
This step needs an internet connection once — it's the only time Vitals talks to Lemon Squeezy's servers to confirm the key. After that, it only re-checks quietly at each app launch.

Deactivating a Mac

Retiring a Mac, or want to move Pro somewhere else? In the same Preferences screen, click "Deactivate license on this Mac." It now asks you to confirm first — "Deactivate this license on this Mac?" — so a stray click can't lock you out by accident. Confirming frees that activation slot immediately, and you can use the same key on another Mac (or reactivate it here again) right away.

Why the 3-device limit works in your favor

Most one-time-purchase Mac utilities tie a license to a single machine. Vitals lets one $14.99 purchase cover up to three Macs at once — your laptop, a desktop, and a third Mac, all from one key. Outgrow that, or swap a device? Deactivate the one you're not using and that slot opens up instantly — no repurchase, no waiting on support.

Common questions

Is Vitals Pro a subscription?

No. It's a single $14.99 payment — yours forever, with every future update included, no matter which store you bought it through.

What's the difference between the Mac App Store version and the direct version?

Same app, same price, same 14-day trial. Apple's App Store sandbox blocks six system-level reads, so in the Mac App Store build these are unavailable: crash & kernel panic history, S.M.A.R.T. disk health and SSD wear (drive type and capacity still show), the launch agents & daemons listing, open-port listing, discovery of local LLM servers on non-default ports, and Trash inside the reclaimable-space scan. The direct-download version has all six. Everything else is identical. The App Store build marks each one unavailable in the interface rather than showing you an empty card or a wrong answer — the full breakdown is in What It Measures.

I bought through the Mac App Store — do I need a license key?

No — App Store purchases unlock automatically through your Apple ID. If Pro doesn't show as unlocked, use "Restore" in Preferences instead of a key.

Can I use one license on both an Apple Silicon and an Intel Mac?

Yes. Vitals is a universal binary and the license isn't tied to a chip architecture — only to how many Macs are activated at once.

What happens if I request a refund?

All direct purchases include a 30-day money-back guarantee (1 month). If you bought directly through our website, email contact@hanncrest.com with your order email or license key, and we will process a full refund via Lemon Squeezy within 1–2 business days. Vitals checks your license once per app launch, not continuously in the background; once a refund is processed, Pro locks the next time you open the app on that Mac. For Mac App Store purchases, refunds are handled directly by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. See our full Refund Policy.

I've used all 3 activations and need another — now what?

Open Vitals on any Mac you're no longer using it on and click "Deactivate license on this Mac." That frees the slot instantly so you can activate elsewhere. No Vitals installed there anymore? Lemon Squeezy's customer portal (linked in your receipt email) can deactivate an instance from your order page directly.

Still stuck?

Send us your order email and what you're seeing, and we'll sort it out — usually within a couple of business days.
