Privacy Policy
This policy covers the app. Website visits, purchases and support reports have separate data handling. If you send a report, its message and attachments leave your Mac so we can respond. Direct license activation uses Lemon Squeezy.

The short version: Aura collects nothing. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of ours in the loop. Your text is rewritten by a language model running on your own Mac, and it is never uploaded, synced, or sent anywhere. This page explains exactly what that means.
What Aura reads
When you press the shortcut, Aura reads the text you have selected in the frontmost app, so it can rewrite it. It reads that selection only at the moment you ask, through standard macOS Accessibility and pasteboard APIs, and only to produce the rewrite you requested. It does not read your screen, log your keystrokes, or watch what you type the rest of the time.
Where the rewriting happens
- ✓Rewrites run on a model on your Mac — Apple Intelligence (built into macOS), Aura's own downloaded model running with Core ML on the Neural Engine, or a local server you point it at on
127.0.0.1. - ✓The local-server option only accepts loopback addresses, so even that path stays on your machine.
- ✓Your selected text is never transmitted to HANNCREST or any third party. There is no cloud rewrite mode.
What's stored, and where
- ✓Preferences (your default mode, presets, shortcuts, engine choice) are kept in standard macOS app preferences, local to your Mac.
- ✓Recent rewrites are kept briefly in memory so you can undo or copy the original — they are not written to any server, and are not synced to iCloud.
- ✓Downloaded models are stored in your user Library so they only download once. You can remove them any time from Settings → Model.
The one thing that touches the network — only when you ask
Downloading a model
If you choose "Aura's own model," Aura downloads the quantized model weights once from a public model host (Hugging Face). That's a one-time file download, initiated by you; no text or personal data is sent as part of it. After it completes, Aura works entirely offline. Apple Intelligence requires no download at all, and the local-server option talks only to software you run yourself.
Reporting a bug
If you open "Report a Bug" and tap Send, Aura sends the message you wrote — and, only if you leave the optional diagnostics toggle on, an anonymous hardware profile (Mac model, CPU/RAM, macOS version, locale, uptime, thermal state). It never includes your name, account, files, the text you rewrite, or any identifier that ties two reports together. Nothing is ever sent unless you explicitly tap Send.
The permissions Aura asks for
Aura asks for Accessibility access so it can read your selected text and paste the rewrite back into the field you're working in. This is a macOS platform permission you grant in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. It is a local access grant that lets Aura interact with other apps' text on your behalf; it does not send anything anywhere.
Children's privacy
Aura is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — there's simply nothing collected, full stop.
