Privacy Policy
This policy covers the app. Website visits, purchases and support reports have separate data handling. If you send a report, its message and attachments leave your Mac so we can respond. Direct license activation uses Lemon Squeezy.

The short version: StealthShare collects nothing and never records your screen. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of ours in the loop. It hides things on your Mac while you share, and puts them all back when you're done. This page explains exactly what that means.
What StealthShare does — and doesn't — see
StealthShare is a curtain, not a camera. It does not record, capture, screenshot, or stream your display, ever. To hide the right things at the right time, it reads a small amount of local system state through standard macOS APIs — which windows belong to which apps (to know what to mask), whether the microphone or camera is live, and whether the screen is being captured. The direct-download build asks macOS which processes are using an input device — a list of app identifiers, never audio or video; the App Store build reads only the system recording indicator. None of this is sent anywhere; apart from the short session record described below, it's used in the moment and discarded.
What it changes while you share — all temporary
- ✓Masks the confidential app windows you choose (Slack, Messages, Mail, and any you add) with a cover drawn on your own Mac — so the window is hidden from your audience and from you alike, until you reveal it with ⌘⇧E.
- ✓Hides desktop icons and Mac widgets, swaps in a neutral wallpaper, and turns on a Focus so notification banners are held.
- ✓Every one of these is reversed the moment Privacy Mode turns off — and StealthShare also restores everything if it quits, so nothing is left changed.
Your calendar (only if you turn Calendar Auto-Arm on)
If you enable Calendar Auto-Arm, StealthShare requests read-only access to your macOS Calendar so it can arm Privacy Mode shortly before a scheduled Zoom, Teams or Meet event. It reads event times and the meeting link only, entirely on your Mac, to decide when to switch on — it never modifies your calendar and never uploads or transmits your events. If you leave the feature off, StealthShare doesn't touch your calendar at all.
What's stored, and where
- ✓Your settings (which protections are on, your app-blur list, the hotkey) are kept in standard macOS app preferences, local to your Mac.
- ✓History keeps your last 100 Privacy Mode sessions: when each started, how long it lasted, and what turned it on — you, your calendar, or a live mic, camera or screen share (e.g. "Zoom"). It never records what was on your screen — no window titles, no content, no screenshots — it stays on your Mac, and you can clear it at any time.
- ✓A Mac App Store purchase is handled directly by the App Store under your own Apple ID; a direct-download licence key is checked with Lemon Squeezy, as described below. StealthShare stores no payment details.
The only things that ever touch the network
The "More Apps" panel
The More Apps section loads a single web page from hanncrest.com that lists our other Mac apps. It's a read-only page — opening it sends no personal data, and tapping an app just opens its page in your browser.
"Report a Bug" — only when you send one
If you choose to file a bug report, StealthShare sends only what you can see and approve first: your message, the app and macOS version, and — only if you leave the optional diagnostics toggle on — an anonymous hardware profile (Mac model, CPU/RAM, locale, uptime, thermal state). It contains no name, account, files, location, or any identifier that ties two reports together. Nothing is ever sent in the background; a report leaves your Mac only when you tap Send Report, and you can inspect the exact contents beforehand.
Licence activation — direct download only
If you bought StealthShare directly, activating your key sends the key and your Mac's name to Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, so it can count the Mac against your three-device limit; the app re-checks the key from time to time. Nothing else goes with it. The Mac App Store build never makes this call.
The permissions StealthShare asks for
StealthShare asks for exactly one permission: Accessibility, used only by the Accidental-Paste Guard, which cannot intercept ⌘V without it. It does not ask for Screen Recording — positioning a mask needs only a window's owner and its on-screen rectangle, which macOS provides to any app without permission, and StealthShare never captures or records the screen. It also uses macOS Shortcuts to toggle a Focus for Do Not Disturb, and (optionally) read-only Calendar access as described above. It never asks for the microphone or camera, Full Disk Access, Contacts or Photos. All are local macOS permissions you grant in System Settings; none of them send anything anywhere.
Children's privacy
StealthShare is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — there's simply nothing collected, full stop.
